    They All Go Bang

Thursday, February 26, 2009, 12:58 PM EST [General]

I am on a mission to replace my S&W9VE with a smaller type for concealed carry.

They all go Bang, but which gives you the best BANG for the Buck?  I don't want to sell my wife and grand kids to achieve this.  I would love to hear opinions from others.

I think you should look at the Taurus .22 Magnum in the two inch light weight model.

It has eight shots of ammo that leave even that short barrel at 1,400 fps (2200 fps from a rifle} and has 335 ft lbs of energy.

That is half again the speed of a 9mm, and hits with about the same or more muzzle energy as the 9mm with very little recoil

Yes, the bullet is amaller, but the ability to control where that bullet goes makes it better than a snubby 38. and you get 8 shots instead of 5.

The round butt makes it easy to conceal and comfortable to shoot.

This gun retails for around $300 and ammo is half what 9mm is going for these days.

Because it is a revolver there is no danger of it being listed as an "assault weapon"

    Wolf,.. I've got a Daewoo DP51 in 9mm.

Works good for me but if you want something smaller.. they do offer it in a compact version. It's available in 9mm or .40,.. nice little accurate weapons !

The average person can not feel the difference between 7 degrees and 0 degrees F.

Unless you care to take a stop-watch and expose your body to the elements, you may notice frostbite will occur about 2 minutes sooner at 0 than at 7.  Experts will tell you that it will take approx. 15 minutes to achieve frost bite.  If you have ever had so much as a "little" case of frost bite in the past, you can be assured that it will take less than 15 mins.  So, please take precautions.  Make sure you use lip balm, try a light coat of petroleum jelly or a hand lotion on your ears, nose and hands if they have to be exposed.  They all act as a barrier from the wind and helps prevent the skin from drying out, cracking and bleeding.  so stay safe, dress in layers and stay hydrated.  Most of all, keep warm.  If I get more time, I'll try to add more safety tips.
