It was a superb week to hunt the Merriam Turkey in the morning and fish for giant Walleye in the evenings. There are several ( cast and blast ) that we do at Windy Hill Outfitters. From ducks and walleye to pheasants and northern pike, now the spring turkey and walleye. What a great way to add the 2 things I love and wrap them up in the same adventure, the same day.

Spring turkey is in till May 17 and now the ice is off all the lakes walleye fishing kick into high gear. We get the best of both worlds, Hunting Turkeys in the morning and Walleye fishing in the afternoon. The spring turkeys are just turning it on, they are getting real vocal, Big groups are starting to split up and the competition for hens are on. Merriam Turkeys are running everywhere!!!    Add a hot Walleye bite to the mix and it makes for a perfect cast and blast. Walleyes are moving into the warmer, shallow water to feed after a cold, still winter. They are getting ready to spawn and food is all they can think of.
