2009 hunting season is now under way.....

Well I must say that there is no reason for me to complain on how this year is going as far as the outdoor adventure. My boys and I have cought well over 100 salmon and on SEPT. 13 2009 I filled my deer tag with a 2x3 blacktail which has an outside spread of 19 1/2 inches.. LOTS OF MASS AND DOUBLE EYE GUARDS... I usually dont try to take deer this early because I am a rut hunter but when this buck walked out I thought he was at least a 4 point.. I didnt look at him good enough because he looked huge.. Dont get me wrong ; this is a really nice buck and we are talking blacktail deer which everyone thinks they are small.. Well where I live in NW WASHINGTON these deer dress out between 110 AND sometimes over 200 lbs. This buck was around 160 to 180 lbs. Most hunters never heard of a blacktail deer and they are under rated and if anyone wants to put there hunting skills to the test then I RECOMMEND YOU GIVE IT A TRY... I f you can kill a mature blacktail then you have really done something because I guarantee ;; you can throw the whitetail thing out the door. When I moved out to WA. from P.A I would sit for days trying to hunt these deer and ounce I figured out I had to basically cover alot of ground and spot and stalk ; I then BECAME SUCCESSFUL.. I hunt everything that way now. There is no better rush than sneaking up on your pray and taking it with a stick and string..... Well our freezer is on the way of being full So hpefully we can bag up another elk for the wall and I wish EVERYONE A SUCCESSFUL HUNTING SEASON AND REMEMBER , HUNT SAFE - BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND HAVE FUN........ Punching the deer tag early, that's how you get it done.

You just keep filling up the freezer! You can allways buy another one and shoot to fill it too! Those boys of yours need a lot of fuel to grow you know!
