I wasn't going to hunt thursday evening after work but my boyfriend talked me into it.  I was in my blind and it started to snow.  It was so beautiful and peaceful.  It was getting close to dark and I saw 5 does walk down a hill into the field on the other side of the creek.  three of them stayed together and stopped to eat on the other side of some trees, blocking my chance to shoot.  So I started watching the other two.  I chose the larger of the two and shot.  they all ran into the woods.  Farron heard the shot and came over to the blind to see what I had got.  We waiting a little while then went looking for blood.  Found none!!!  But we did find the doe!  I was starting to think I had missed.  I have never tried a 150 yard shot before.  I always wait until they get closer.  I didn't have that option this time. anyway, she was a nice young doe.  And I was happy to finally get one this year!

Now that modern gun season is over, I am waiting for late Muzzleloader season to come in so I can get that big buck!

    still no luck

I haven't had as much time to hunt this week as I would like.  I did hunt Tuesday evening and learned a big lesson.  I was in my blind and my boyfriend was in the woods not too far (but a safe distance) and he was rattling.  I heard something pawing at the ground behind my blind.  I waited a few minutes and my curiosity got the best of me.  I looked though a small opening in the back of the blind just in time to see a huge buck run off into the woods.  He was only 10 feet from my blind and my movement inside scared him.  If I had been patient he may have walked around my blind toward the sound of rattling antlers.  I don't know when an opportunity like that will come along and I blew this one!!! I am still kicking myself for it!!  I will continue to pray for patience!!!!!

    NO LUCK

Thursday, November 13, 2008, 08:41 AM EST [General]

I went out at 3:50 pm yesterday when I got home from work.  As soon as I got close to my blind I spotted a small deer.  I squatted down and looked through my scope.  It was a button buck so I just watched him eat and let him walk away.

Then I got into my  blind.  I saw absolutely nothing else the rest of the afternoon.  Went back to the house at dark.

Maybe today will be better.  I keep hoping.

    deer season

Tuesday, November 11, 2008, 01:56 PM EST [General]

Saturday (nov 8th) was opening day in Kentucky.  We spent all day hunting.  We had friends hunting on our place also.   Everyone there saw deer but none of us were fortunate enough to get one.  It is raining today but I plan to get out in the woods as soon as I get home from work.  Darkness comes too quickly these days.  I need more time to hunt!!!!!!  There was an awesome picture of a huge buck on my trail cam this weekend.  I am seriously hoping to see him this evening.

    Wish me luck!!! :)
