2009 MN Deer Season - Rifle

Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 09:02 PM CST [General]

Had a successful rifle season. I hunted both the opening weekend in Perham, MN and the second weekend in Buckman, MN with my youngest son, we had a good time being out in the woods together and he shot his first deer on opening day. The rut wasn't in full swing and the weather was warm (too warm) not much deer movement going on at either location.  No trophy deer for me yet, I shot a doe on the last day and will wait for Muzzle Loader season to open on 11/28 to continue my search. Below is a photo of my son Mark and his first deer.

Mike I applaude you on takeing your son out hunting and sharing our passion with him. I really enjoy the opportunity to get to spend time with my family outdoors as well. I wish you best of luck in the muzzel loader season and hope you find a monster at your feet.
    Thanks for sharing the story!
God Bless and Best of Hunting.

    SD Pheasant opener 09

Saturday, October 24, 2009, 10:38 AM CST [General]

Returned from SD on 10/22. Pheasant opener was wet and muddy, birds were in the corn as most of the crops are still in the fields. Found the best hunting around 6pm after the birds headed back to the CRP. Plan to make another trip out when the crops are harvested. Good luck with all your hunts.....
