2007 turned out to be a good year hunting for me. I took my first whitetail buck, a mature typical 4x4, in the 120+ class mid-October. He was heavy at 125 pounds hanging (carcass) with an estimated live weight of approx 170 pounds. I took him on opening day morning and only one hour into legal shooting light. I was hunting in the Northeast corner of the state near Canada with Bearpaw Outfitters. I lased him at 226 yards and one shot off Stoney Point sticks behind the shoulder from my Remington 700 action/Pac-Nor barreled, McMillan stocked, .300 Win Mag, "canyon rifle" pushing my hand loaded 168 grain Barnes TSX at 3,005 FPS MV and 3,368 LBS ME was all she wrote-DRT big time, like the earth just disappeared from underneath him! It was a great, albeit short, hunt!
