    What the crap!!!

Are all the deer on strike???? I have been hunting everyday this week and the only deer I have seen was running so fast you'd think the devil himself was chasing her through the woods. I tried to set my son up on a nice buck today and 20 minutes after we get in the blind he looks at me and says, "daddy I dont feel good, I think i'm gonna throw up". "I said whoa there chief dont spew in the blind let me open this joker up first". Thank GOD he didnt lose his lunch and I have to admit he was a trooper the rest of the day. He didnt want to leave and commenced to play his PSP while we waited on something to move. The only thing we saw move was enough squirrells to feed a family of pigmy's for a month. I texted a few of my buddies who were hunting in other areas of the county and they didnt see anything either. I saw the sunrise and set in the woods and to be honest it wasnt a bad thing. I couldnt be in a better place than the woods to watch the sunrise and set. Aside from that though I still dont know where all the deer have gone. Lord knows I would REALLY like to know if they have gone extinct or just in the witness protection program. Either way im gonna try it again in the morning and hope for the best and if I dont see anything Santa better hope im not in the woods or even in the front yard when he flies by. Dont worry folks I aint gonna take out Santas sled before his job is done unless his last stop is here at the house and then i'll tell him that the only thing I want for christmas is rudolph hangin on the wall behind the christmas tree. In all seriousness though I hope everyone has a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. Have fun and stay safe!

    Patience is a virtue.

Well as I said on one of my last blogs "I tagged out on my bucks early but what a way to tag out". Well next year I might be a little more picky on my bucks and have more patience. I am not used to seeing bucks like the ones I harvested this year so of course I was anxious to take them. I am not sure who else is from NC here but in the area I live in the deer around here are about the size of large dogs in comparison to other states. So when I tagged out I really thought that I wasnt going to see anything any bigger. Man....if I didnt eat my own words today then I dont know what to call it. Well as I stood next to a Kibota tractor talking to the owner of the property I hunt he said to me "jr I have been seeing this buck walking around my corn field and he looks like he has a pine tree on his head". As if on cue we looked over to see the same buck step out about 75 yards from us just taking his sweet time as he walked over to a pile of apples the owner had thrown out in the yard. Now right at that moment I felt sick....litterally. I could have tossed my lunch right in front of the man. We watched this buck just eat his fill on those apples. The owner said in a matter of fact way, " jr I been seeing him just about everyday for the past two weeks". I listened to the man as he explained to me where and when he was seeing this buck. I noticed very quickly a pattern to this donkeys madness. To my suprise the owner exlpained in great detail this bucks movements throughout the past two weeks. I mean from the times of day to the weather and temperature. So I went from a feeling of nausea to the thought of "holy crap both my kids have two buck tags a piece maybe I can put the kids on him". Heres the kicker, next week is the last week of season and everyone and their mother is gonna be in the woods. This buck is crossing two sets of property and I noticed that this buck is all out in the open because no one has hunted any of the property since opening week. This will all change next week when the masses enter the woods. This buck is going to be walking a gauntlet and im afraid he is gonna find safety on property that isnt being hunted....which in fact is right across the road. We will see next week how things go when me and the kids climb in the woods. I would be so happy to see one of the kids harvest this beast and I would love to see what he looks like next year if he makes it through the rest of this season. I will post something later hopefully with good news. Have fun and stay safe!
