Well, I finally broke down, last night, and ordered the Dish Network package that includes the Outdoor Channel.
I hope the Outdoor Channel appreciates the trouble I went to. I did not even know this channel existed before last Feb. when I switched from Cox.
I just can not give up the shows on Wednesday. Guns and Ammo and Jim Scoutten type shows shows. I am too crippled up to go out hunting, but I still enjoy the shows about firearms
And how can anyone give up Ted Nuggent. I have never listened to his music, except on the show. But I had heard of him before finding his TV show.

YES, I am still harping on this subject.
Qwest will discontinue there Choice TV service in February 2009.
I am still looking for a provider that has the Outdoor Channel in there list of networks available.
Cox does not offer it. Period
Dish Network and Direct TV only offers it in their most expensive packages. 75% of which I will never watch.
I am thinking about hooking up a computer to my 56" flat screen and watching the Outdoor Channel programs directly off of this website. But if I go that route, it may actually make more sense to cancel all TV providers and hang out an antenna, for local programming, and watching all my shows off of the internet.

A little over one year ago, I made a tremendous mistake and started to do business with Qwest.
I signed up for their wireless phones (4 lines), High speed internet (dsl) and Choice cable tv.
I think it is safe to say that Qwest screwed up every single monthly bill I received. I was on the phone with them for an hour or two per month to get them to correct their mistakes.
Thankfully, Qwest will shortly be discontinuing their cell phone and television services. So I was able to switch phone providers without $700+ in early termination fees.
Next year they are discontinuing their television services thru Choice. The problem is that Choice is the only provider I can find that carries the Outdoor Channel in the normal programming channels.
So I have been thinking of switching back to Cox Communications here in Arizona. But lo and behold, Cox Communications DOES NOT carry the Outdoor Channel (in Arizona). The satallite tv providers offer it, but you have to buy their most expensive programming package or pay for the channel a la carte.
I never saw the Outdoor Channel until I started with Choice. I now watch it many hours a day (as I am disabled and rarely leave the house).
I do not know what I am going to do without it. I may hook up a computer to my LCD flat panel TV and watch the shows off the internet. But the logistics involved are complexed.
Since I became disabled, I watch a lot of the outdoor channel and dream about going hunting. So, I was up in Minnesota this last week for my first time traveling in
almost 8 years. I left everything at home including my concealed
pistol, as I was not up there hunting. I was driving in the suburbs of St. Paul and looking at the places that
I use to drive around and noticing how they have changed. New roads
where there weren't any before and farms that are now missing.
I was driving past a cemetery fairly slowly and walking right next to
my car was a huge gobbler. It was almost able to look me in the eye as
I sat in the rented Nissian.
No gun, no bow and this guy just walked next to me as I drove slowly. I tried to talk to him, but I do not gobble well enough for him to recognize.
I had to turn around and then the bird was on the other side of the road walking in the other direction next to me again.
I stopped the car and we sat there looking at each other for a couple
minutes, as if I was absolutely no threat to him at all. (which I
wasn't, but he should not have known that).
I hope to start hunting again in AZ, in a year or two and will probably
get the license that allows me to hunt from the vehicle on a road. I
will bet you dollars to donuts that I will never see a gobbler that
close again, when I have a license and weapon in my possession
I know this isn't earth shattering, but I have never had a wild turkey that close with no fear of me before.
