This week is crawling by. I wanted to hunt pheasants this past weekend, but it just didn't work out that way. This Friday I'll be going with my boy as well as a friend of mine (we've been friends since grade school) and his two boys. Gonna make a day of it at a local Wildlife Management Area. We've had good luck there in the past. BUT, Friday can't get here soon enough for me!!! Thanksgiving is fine... but this year it's about the pheasants taunting me from the field! My productivity this week at work is definately suffering from my distracted brain. :)
Speaking of Thanksgiving day itself, I saw the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade had been changed to the "Holiday Parade" and was being held on Friday and NOT on Thanksgiving!! What the heck is up with that! Political Correctness?? Ugh.
This year, I think I'm most thankful for the new relationship I've been able to develop with my boy. In the past, we've been close, but not that close... if that makes sense. We just never clicked. This year with shooting and hunting, we've finally found our bond. It's a great thing.
We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving Day at my house - me, my wife, two kids, mother in law and my dad (widower) will all be sitting around the table. Turkey is nice, but I prefer the cold turkey sandwiches even more (with potato chips mashed on top)! We usually have Turkey for Thanksgiving and Ham for Christmas. For Easter it's another Turkey. But this year I'm really, really hoping to be able to get in on the Spring Turkey hunt here in Idaho so we can have one for Easter! That would be awesome. I've never hunted Turkey before - just watched it on the Outdoor channel... I'm going to have to buy more camo, that's for sure.
If there's anyone here that's hunted Turkey in Idaho that would like to pass along some tips, I'd sure appreciate it!
Well, that's it for now. Thanks for dropping by!!
Mark
