The Pa. Antlered and Antlerless Deer Season starts on Monday! Time to bring out the big guns ! I have the .270 dusted off and sighted in and ready for the opening day! Bow season was a bust !Not that I didn't have oppritunities and I did get to throw some carbon,I didn't conect! It's not always as easy as it looks on TV ! Hopeing I can connect with some of the buck I saw in the archery season because I know they are still out there! To all the hunters that are starting there whitetail season this month,good luck and remember to hunt safe and live to hunt another day! cgbrun2 

I work the nightshift and when I get home in the morning,it is time for my wife and daughter to go to work and school, so I see them for a whole five minuits befor they go.

But this day my nine year old had a suprize for me.She had written a poem for school and she wanted to read it to me because she was so proud of what she had done.

I thought that it was so good that I would share it with all of my friends on the Outdoor Channel.

                                                         Hunting

                               My daddy likes to go hunting for deer

                               He hunts with his bow and arrows and gun

                               He's very quiet so the deer don't hear

                               My daddy thinks hunting is great fun

                               The woods right now are red,yellow and brown

                               It's like walking through a rainbow in fall

                               As the weather turns cold,the leaves fall down

                               The animals gather food,big and small.

                               In winter the land is frozen and cold

                               My dad sits in the woods ready to shoot

                               The deer come in,a mother big and bold

                               She is followed by a fawn,sweet and cute.

                               My dad hesitates and lowers his gun

                               He makes some loud noises and shouts,"Run,run"!

The first day of Archery is 2 days away here in Pa. and I'm really getting  "Crazy with the fever" with each passing hour! It's so bad that it's all I talk about and I know one thing, I'm driveing my wife nuts!  Poor woman ! I can't wait to get in my stand with my bow and watch the sun rise over the mountain top and have those rays hit me in the face! All you bow hunters know what I'm talking about! I'v went over all my gear and practiced with my bow countless hours and I know that if a shot presents it'self I have averything under control! To all of my fellow Pa hunting brothers,good luck! I got a phone call from a friend of mine this morning asking me if I wanted to go fishing with him on his boat,and of course I was allready loading up the rods before I said yep!Who was to know that it would be a day that would end up in total frustration!First, the place that we wanted to go to wasn't deep enough to get the boat off the trailer.So we just decided to make a 20 minute run to the local lake.We put the boat in the water and started to fish as soon as we left the dock and I missed a nice bass!And then another!What the heck!We were fishing in 8 to 12 foot of water with both manmade and natural structure when my friend started to front end me in the back of the boat.Every time I told him that we should move to another spot,he would put the boat in such a way that I couldn't get a good throw at it and he would catch a fish.To make a long story short,when we had to leave for home he had 5 bass and I got Skunked!The first time in years!I was "mad as hell" when we put the boat on the trailer and started for home,but then I took a deep breath and thought to myself,"A bad day on the water is better than any good day at work ". My track record of lunckers speaks for itself ! cgbrun2
