Well, the modern firearms season is upon us. It starts this Saturday at sun up. We have some folks coming in to hunt with us for the entire first week, good friends from Florida. They come up every year for opening week, always a good time.

The deer are in full rut right now and the bucks are going crazy. It will be a great opening weekend.

I have seen the usual knuckleheads that will be in the woods this weekend, you know the ones. They are at wal-mart buying their guns this week and getting their ammo. It doesn't matter that they have never hunted and many of them have never shot a gun. So they will never sight it in, see a buck and start shooting. I hope no one gets hurt.

I wish they would at least learn to shoot a gun first. and spend some time at a range practicing so that they can quickly and humanely harvest their quarry.

 I wish everyone a great season and by all means be safe out there.

Remember, Alcohol and firearms DO NOT mix.
