Well ya'll...I didn't get to kill a turkey over the weekend. It's ok though--I have the rest of the season. I want to send out a friendly reminder to be careful. While turkey hunting you may not realize, While you are calling in gobblers you are making sounds of a turkey while on the ground. I learned a lesson. Be careful and be aware of what is paying attention to you. Look and listen...You might be surprised by a bobcat or a coyote. They are predators and if you sound like a turkey they are going to come in and check it out. They are extra quiet and very sneaky. I heard a story about a man that was calling turkeys...He was on the ground just a calling---The woods were quiet and he just knew a turkey was gonna come in and give him a shot. What happened instead...A fullgrown bobcat stalked up behind him, climbed the tree, and was coming down to him before he even saw this thing. I know we all have a gun. but remember...predators do this for a living. That man didn't get hurt...but, it is a good reminder to be aware. If you sound like a turkey, are about the height of a turkey when you are sittin down, then well you're a turkey. It's true...it has happened...please be careful and be aware...not scared, but aware. I hope everybody enjoys turkey season--good luck to everybody.

I am so happy to see female hunters, and your picture goes to prove that women are just as successful as men. That ensures a lifetime of enjoying this sport and the excitement of one day hopefully watching my daughter putting one on the ground bigger than her Daddys. I am glad hunting is becoming such a big thing. So long as there is people out there willing to teach--There is people willing to learn. Hunting is more that a sport--It is a lifestyle to me. The passion for the hunt and love for the game is what gets me up every morning during season. I see more and more families getting involed in hunting and I can't explain how excited I am when I see a child take an animal. Some folks don't like it, but I don't believe hunting is going anywhere. I just hope future generations have the chance to enjoy it.
