    Missouri's Outdoors

    Monday, July 14, 2008, 08:15 AM [General]

Right here in Missouri is absolutely beautiful outdoors. I spent 5 hours fishin Saturday mornin and caught five fish. The biggest was about a 2.5 lb bass. I caught me some crawfish on Sunday, just catch and release. Had a frined out from New York and had never caught one. He'd only realy seen 'em on tv. So, I run him around the creeks a lil bit and showed hi where to find 'em and how to catch 'em. It opened up a whole new world to him. I think I may actually be able to talk him into goin fishin a lil later and maybe even huintin come deer season. It was nice bein able to introduce someone new to the outdoors. Missouri has some of the best I have seen so far. Not THE best, but some of.

Missouri has the Ozark Mountains runnin thru it. Ft Leonard Wood has the southern portion of the Mark Twain National Forrest in the Northern half of the post. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL area. The wildlife runnin thru here is amazingly beautiful. From the 20 lb coons runnin the rivers and creeks to the bobcats and mountain lions roamin the deep woods. The deer are abundant. The varmints are crawlin all over the place. The fishing is awesome. You can fish the same hole and catch either bass or trout, then flip over to a nother hole a few yards down river and tie into a catfish. I LOVE IT!!!!!

    Take a Kid Fishin'

    Monday, July 7, 2008, 08:07 AM [General]

Went fishin with my 5 year old this weekend. It was absolutely awesome. We caught one fish. He got several bites, but couldn't quite close the deal on any of 'em. I caught one small bass. It was one of the best fishin trips I have ever been on. If nothen more than just "guys' time," it was perfect. We spent a few hours of just me and him. We were out in the Great Outdoors and enjoyin the peace and serenity of just being. He got bored quick and wanted to wade in the water. I didn't care. He was enjoying bein outside with DADDY. I was enjoying being outside with him. Again, one of the best fishin trips I've ever been on.

Dream Hunt, maybe only in my dreams

    Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 12:12 PM [General]

So, I have this dream of going on an Archery Grizzly Bear hunt. I have been doing my homework and trying to se what it would take to get one going. I have come to realize that for the price of a nice F-250, I can get in on the Grizzly hunt of my dreams. I may be 95 years old and using a crossbow by the time I get to it, BUT I will get there. If anyone has any ideas on how to go about achieving this dream a little sooner and cheaper, I'd GREATLY appreciate any feedback. I aint scared to pay for a good trip, but I would like it to be affordable also.

    Later,

    Gator

    No huntin since DEC 2004

    Thursday, June 19, 2008, 08:53 AM [General]

MAN!!!! I LOVE to hunt. However, I haven't had a chance to get out into GOD'S COUNTRY for a while now. I LOVE my job, but it has been the major interfering factor in why I haven't gotten in the woods in so long. Now that I am stationed at Ft Leonard Wood, MO (known for it's excellent hunting and fishing), I hope to get back in the game. I was recently stationed at Ft Carson, CO. It is a perfect spot to access elk, antelope, bear, mountain lion, coyotes and small varmints.  Due to deployments, I didn't get any chance to get out and get a hunt in. Now that I am here in MO, I should have some time to get a few hunts in. There are some nice whitetails and turkeys to go after. So, here's to me and my new fortune. Hopefully the non-deployable status will pay off.
