Well the 2009 season has been underway since September when bow season opened here in South Florida. Due to not having enough money I haven't been able to get a hunting lease in quite some time, so I have been hunting management areas with my best friend.
We have seen some great deer but I have only drawn bow season quotas until this year when I finally drew a general gun quota and a bow quoata. My buddy and i hunted for a week straight during bow season and the end result was me missing a nice big buck at 67 yards after thinking my buddy had hit him so I figured hey why not take a shot.
My buddy shot a 7point with a broken brow tine on the last day of our hunt. We saw the deer from the dirt road and noticed he wasn't spooked by the passing truck that obviously did not see him when he drove by. So I had my buddy get out and walk along the driver's side of the truck while I drove which didn't bother the deer at all. When we got 40 yards out the buck crossed the road from the passenger side to the driver side. My buddy then made his way into the woods and made a perfect 30 yard spine shot dropping him in his tracks.
This weekend is the opening of general gun so I will be in the same management area trying my hand at shooting one.
