Next Saturday Nov 15 is opening day for Black Powder season.Been raining here in the Valley and lower elevations in the mountains and snowing up high. Couple of the guys in My Department finally got their riflr season bucks last week of the season( this past week) and they are nice ones so I think its gonna look good for us Black Powder people. Area where I drew the Tag I can take either Buck or Doe, but first couple weekends gonna hold out for a buck, if no luck take the first decent size doe I see. Not a trophy hunter want the venison in the freezer!!!!!!!!!!!!. My riflr contantly shoots to the right, have sites moved all the way over already so I'll have to Kentucky windage it from there. Its gonna be the Rut so I'll be able to get pretty close to make it work anyway. Now If I can just figure out why I keep blowing up nipples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! went through 3 of them the other day. even cut my charge down from 90 to 80 and dtill went Boom!!!. The guy at Sportsmans warehouse thinks that maybe Traditions had a bad batch of nipples possibly? guess i'll never know lol. but i'll be ready for November 15!!!!!!
Black Bears and Tuna carcasses
Okay Monday morning I was cruising up to Wagner gap, got maybe 1-4 mile off of the pavement and on the dirt when I saw two Tuna carcasses dumped along the road. Bad eneough that I have yet to go tuna fishing, but does somebody need to tease me and dump the carcasses along the road in the boonies? Couldnt they have dumped them at the cleaning station on the coast when they cleaned them? or even in their own trash?Had to haul them up to the Boontulies and dump them along the dirt road.
Now about 3 miles up I turnrd the corner and crossing the road in front of me , maybe about40-45 yds in front of me was the biggest Black bear I had ever seen!!!!!!!!!! I mean he was huge and blacker than an Oreo cookie!!!!!!. Came bounding down the hill, three good leaps across the road and down the other side. Now I have seen a Bear up wagner before and even seen sign, But not this far down usually 5 miles up or more. Was a fine site to see
Bird season is almost here
September 1st is opening day of grouse and quail seasons!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant wait to hit the woods with my Remington and a pocket full of shells. The birds may be a bit more difficult to find this year with all the logging activity thats been going on, where I usually hunt them. I'll be up there anyway. That day is a paid holiday from work, so UI'm supposed to take the day off from labor and go hunting!!!. Hey a bad day hunting is still better than a good day at wotk anyway!!
popping some caps yesterday
Headed up into the boondocks yesterday to get some trigger time behind the BP. Had to experiment with Pyrodex loads see which one I like better,(going 85 grains all I need for Black Tails) and to see if I like it over Black powder. ( I do) Problem is I'm having a hell of a time getting it sighted in. Not used to havbing to adjust blade and ramp sites, spemt to many years adjusting clicks, and bore siteing scopes LOL. Have until Nov 15 to have it ready, think I may have to go to the Range under more controlled conditions lol
Never a Bad day fishing
Spent yesterday at Howard Prarie lake, for most of the day nothing was biting then BAM!! lots of fish.....................course they were all tiny sunfish and small and I mean Little small mouth bass lol.. so spent the afternoon catch and release!! oh well bad day fishing is better than not fishing at all. I was in the mountains away from the concrete and asphalt and enjoying the trees, mountains and all the scenery. Thats whats important anyway.
