    DVD for Beginning Turkey Hunters

Friday, July 31, 2009, 02:43 PM EST [General]

Well we are approaching deer season quickly and it's about time to start practicing on my bow.  We need to move some stands and cut some roads and you know, all the stuff it takes to get ready.  But before that is done, I have been working on our turkey school DVD.  We had several kids come to 4 classes where we started teaching them the basics of turkey hunting.  It was a great success and we have some great footage to put together a DVD that is unlike anything I have seen on the market.  I will put together a video trailer that I can upload as a sneak preview.

We are also looking at the duck and early goose season.  Plans are for a waterfowl DVD featuring White Fronted (Specklebelly geese).

Hope you all have a safe and memorable season.  Be sure to share your passion with someone new.  We are loosing our numbers as hunters and if we don't share the sport, we may loose any power we have as a group.  Good luck!

We are into our season and have had 5 birds ride home in the truck.  Again, 1st time hunters are getting in the action and our kids are doing well.  We are getting all of the hunts on video and the file is too big for uploads to MyOutdoorChannel, so if you are interested here is a link to our site on youtube:

We will continue to add hunts as we get them.  Your comments are welcomed.

Take a friend or family member on your next outdoor adventure and remember to be safe and enjoy your time together!

    Georgia Turkey Season Starting Soon!

    TURKEY SEASON Approaching Fast!

Well, Jimmy and I have been scouting the properties we hunt and it looks like we have a lot of birds this year.  We added up the number of different birds we have heard gobble this week and last, and we have heard 57 different birds gobble.  I know a number of those were jakes, but most were likely mature birds.  Some have a lot of hens around them.  We have seen the flocks in the pastures and fields, the big birds strutting and I gotta say, that gets me fired up.  We are doing something special this year by taking 8 kids from age 10 to 17 and teaching them woodsmanship and basic turkey hunting 101.  They have done 3 classrooms and last Saturday they got out in the woods and heard their first Wild Turkeys.  The parents have called us to say their kids can't stop talking about what they have seen and heard.  We are going to take each of them on a hunt as well.  I will video each hunt and post it to my site when possible.  We have already given them calls and other outdoor items and if anyone out in the hunting community wants to contribute a call, shirt, cap or anything, please feel free to contact me and I'll help make it happen.  We are really looking forward to our season as I know many of you, just remember to share your passion with others and introduce someone new to the outdoors when you can.  Hunt safe and enjoy the Great Outdoors!

I just got back from a great hunting trip in Virginia.  A friend and I were invited by Greg and his dad Stonewall Jackson to go to their deer camp in West Virginia.  Dean and I jumped at the chance to do some bow hunting in some of the most beautiful land in this country.  We hit it just right and the leaves were already in the color stages which meant the views were fantastic.  Being used to flat land, these mountains created a challenge and made it easy to sleep after a long days hunt.  We saw a lot of deer in all the farm pastures and traveling through the woods.  Greg managed to harvest a nice young buck, Dean missed a doe and I had one of the largest bucks ever 18 yards under my stand and got busted on the draw.  Greg's dad fed us like kings and if they ask me to go back, it will be hard to say no.  The fellowship, food and scenery made this an awsome trip, but if we do go back, I think we can do better with the deer.   Hope you are having a great season and if you don't have a chance to harvest a deer, be sure to make the best of your time in the outdoors with friends and family.  GOOD LUCK !!!!    David in Georgia
