    Where it all began!

I have been hunting whitetail since I was about 12. The first time I went was with my dad and it kind of became a tradition every year that we go hunting together. I watched him shoot a really nice 8 pointer on one of our trips, and have been hooked every since. I haven't brought home a nice buck yet, but I'm not giving up on the hunt! I love every minute I can spend with my family, and every year my dad, my uncle, and I make a day out of hanging stands, looking for scrapes and rubs, and shed hunting before season started. When I got a little older I started going hunting with some friends that were raised up "Daddy's girls" as well! We still made time to go with the men that introduced the outdoors to us, our dads. I'm now 21, and planning a wedding for May 2009. My fiance introduced me to duck and goose hunting, and I love it as well! We go whitetail hunting as much as possible before duck season starts, because we are devoted the whole 60 days to a hunting lodge that one of our friends started four years ago. Chad (my fiance) guides for the lodge, and I cook and clean. I love the experience of getting to meet new people, and make new friendships. Hunting truly brings people together, and I love to find people who have a passion for hunting no matter the prey. I don't have as much free time as I did when I was 12, so I don't get to go with my dad as much as I'd like to. Although I jump at every chance I do get to hunt. I am very thankful that my dad and Chad introduced hunting to me! I know there aren't as many women in the sport, but for me and my girlfriends, we had rather be sitting in a tree or blind than anywhere else. So encourage your daughters, girlfriends, and wifes to go hunting. You never know when they might get hooked! Take kids as well. I am a firm believer in getting children involved in hunting, they are our future and we need them! I have many fond memories of hunting with my dad and fiance so it is possible to turn someone on to the sport! I also think it is very important to eat what you kill! If you don't want the meat, ask around, someone will! With duck season right around the corner, I'm counting down the days! Hunt safe and have fun!
