Almost time and I'm READY !!

Sunday, October 4, 2009, 08:57 PM EST [General]

Well as I sit here and type this I can't get the anxious feelings to go away. I'll be headed out to my huntin' partners side of the world  this coming Friday to hunt elk in the hills of Wyoming.    :-)

I've got all the bags packed up and in a line in the basement to stack in my truck on Thursday afternoon after I get home from work. I'm all sighted in on both my .338 WM and my old girl the 7mm Magnum who will be the backup this time out. She deserves the rest,.. but is still willing and able if the call is needed to come forth for any reason.

I'm running some home rolled ammunition for both rifles; the .338 will be pushing the 225 grain Nosler Accubonds @ 2860 fps with 4005 ft lbs of energy. This should be more than ample to drop the big boy when I find him.

The 7 mag will be using the 162 grain Hornady pill if it's use will be required.

I'll be gone for the month of October,.. I can't wait to see my hunting buds and get caught up on things around the fire ring.

Man,.... are we ever gonna' kill us some Wapiti !!

    Wyoming Wapiti Hunt

Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 08:23 AM EST [General]

Well,... I drew my elk tag for Wyoming this fall and just received my tag in yesterdays mail.

I will be hunting in the South Piney area with a few people. A couple of them are good friends from previous hunts up in Idaho. My bud Dean is the host for this out of state hunt, as he is the resident who lives over in Green River, WY.

I'm looking forward to the campfire with some old friends and my ol' hunting partner,.. along with meeting and making few new ones that will be attending also.

I just LOVE the mountains,..  Just the chance of getting together with friends in that atmosphere in the out of doors is what makes this event special for me, filling the tag will be a plus if it happens....

Good luck to everyone else who may draw a tag!
